The Sea Factory of the Basques

ALBAOLA

Thanks to Albaola – the Sea Factory, Victor Hugo could see how the bank carpentry, one of the main activities of the port of Pasaia in the past, is still alive. Nowadays, there we can see the construction works of the replica of the galleon San Juan, of the XVI. century.

Mater, Museum Ship

Mater Museoa

From the balcony of the bedroom of the house where he stayed, nowadays Victor Hugo would see the traditional tuna boat Mater: the floating museum that shows us its extraordinary past and the fishing techniques that are used these days. During the summer, the tuna boat Mater offers us different activities: outings to the sea, workshops and guided tours, between others.

In the same place where the anxious boatwomen waited in the XIX.century, the motorboat of the Itxas Zerbi company crosses the bay nowadays, connecting the two historical centers that Victor Hugo knew, Pasai Donibane and Pasai San Pedro.

In addition to this service, Itxas Zerbi also offers different options for boat trips around the bay.
